If your extensions feel dry, stiff, or tangle easily, it’s not your fault. Extensions don’t receive natural oils from your scalp, so they need a different kind of care.
Washing
Wash your extensions 1–2 times per week using a sulfate-free, moisture-based shampoo. Avoid protein-heavy products too often as they can make the hair feel stiff.
Conditioning
Apply conditioner mid-length to ends and let it sit for 5–10 minutes. Always detangle gently while the hair is wet using a soft brush.
Hydration
This is the most important step. Use a lightweight oil daily on your mid-lengths and ends. A leave-in conditioner will help keep your extensions soft and prevent tangling.
Sleeping
Sleep with your hair in a loose braid or use a silk pillowcase. Never go to sleep with wet extensions.
The real reason extensions don’t feel right
Most issues come from the wrong method, too much weight, or poor placement. That’s why routine alone isn’t everything.
If your extensions don’t feel right, I offer personalized consultations to match you with the right method for your hair.
